Redding Drag Strip

It was a cold windy evening at the Redding Drag Strip on Saturday, April 19th 2008 but the air was charged with excitement from everyone.... young and old! I don't think they were expecting such a large crowd of spectators that night as evidenced by the small number of porta johns on site but everyone made due just fine!

Some of my favorite scenes that night were those of the spectators...
There's a picture of my three kids watching a car zoom by.... big smile on my daughter's face and the wind blowing her hair.... the kids' lips were purple from the cold and they huddled together under a couple of blankets I brought along with us.
Another funny catch that night was a baby play pen perched atop someone's hood! Next to them there was a load of kids wrapped in blankets sitting in the open trunk of their family car!

It was great seeing all those classic muscle cars out there doing what they were born to do. The sounds and the smells were fantastic! At one point I remember standing at the top of the bleachers and I got a whiff of racing fuel and nitrous and was breathing it in and I happened to look down at my husband who was standing at the fence line and we both smiled and exhaled at the same time! HAHA that was a funny moment for us!

We also enjoyed a great sunset show that night and I've included a shot of that for you too!!!!

The pictures from this night are a husband/wife joint effort... some are his and some are mine....

ENJOY! and thanks for viewing everyone!!
